Nashville, Tenn. — Over 200,000 people will hear authentic “Workingman Country” music at this year’s Tennessee State Fair. Indie music promoter Muddy Roots Music will be curating the first country music stage at the Tennessee State Fair in many years and will feature up-and-coming hardcore honky tonk traditionalist Pat Reedy & the Longtime Goners in a 9-day residency, along with a number of other acts emphasizing the sounds of classic country music.

“Country music has a long history of partnerships with state fairs, and the fair circuit was an important venue for country music touring shows for decades,” Muddy Roots Music president Jason Galaz says. “We’re very happy to be renewing this tradition for a new generation of performers and music fans.”

Pat Reedy & the Longtime Goners recently celebrated the release of their newest album, That’s All There Is. Writing about the album’s first single, “Nashville at 3AM,” Rolling Stone called Reedy a “sharp-tongued songwriter (that) sounds like a spiritual descendent of the town’s famed outlaw generation.” In addition to headlining the country music stage for nine days, Reedy will also perform at the monster truck shows on the two opening nights of the Fair to an expected audience of 16,000 people each night.

In addition to Reedy, Muddy Roots Music will be booking a variety of other tradition-steeped country music acts, along with special vendors in the stage area.

“The mission of Muddy Roots has always been to promote country, blues, Americana, bluegrass, rock and everything in between through our events,” Galaz says. “We’ve pursued that vision through our annual festivals — Muddy Roots, Nashville Boogie, and the Music Valley Jamboree. We’re very honored to secure this partnership with the Tennessee State Fair and for the opportunity to spotlight the sounds of traditional country music in a classic setting.”

The Tennessee State Fair will be held at the Tennessee State Fairground in Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 7-16, 2018. the Fair’s theme will be “the Heart of Tennessee” and will aim, as it has since 1855, to showcase the accomplishments of the citizens throughout Tennessee.
